FREE SHARE DRUG GROUP OFFERS INFO AND INSIGHT

Share Alcohol and Drug Program invites you to attend any or all of its
upcoming free education series.

The program is open to everyone in the community and has important
information for those who have an alcohol or drug problem, or for
those concerned about their use. It is aimed at helping people
affected by others' use to understand addicts and addictive behaviour.

Sessions run Wednesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Share, 2nd floor, 2615
Clarke St., Port Moody. To register or for more information, call
604-936-3900.

There is no cost for this group. The format consists of a video, a
brief presentation and open discussion and topics will vary from week
to week as outlined below:

* Jan. 10: Use, abuse, dependency -- how people become
addicted.

* Jan. 17: Medical aspects and effects of alcohol and drug misuse.
What happens to the body and mind under the influence.

* Jan. 24: Relapse prevention -- discussion on the psychological,
emotional and physical aspects of relapsing and a beginning look at
what can be done.

* Jan. 31: Cocaine and crystal meth -- the struggle to recover, the
long-term recovery from our ever-growing problem.

* Feb. 7: Substance affected/adult children of alcoholics or how
others' misuse affects us.

* Feb. 14: Stage 2 recovery or learning how to love and enjoy life
clean and sober.

* Feb. 21: Stress -- learning to cope with life's little and big
problems.

* Feb. 28: Anger -- understanding your anger and learning how to
manage it more effectively.

* March 7: Trauma -- How substance misuse often occurs with people
who have experienced childhood sexual or physical abuse. How these
experiences may cause relapses or continued misuse.

* March 14: Drinking and driving -- understanding the effects of
alcohol and impaired driving. Also includes drug use and driving.
