BOY, 2, IN CARE AFTER COCAINE FOUND IN SYSTEM

QUESNEL - Social workers have seized a two-year-old Quesnel boy after
the child was brought to hospital suffering from cocaine intoxication,
police said.

RCMP in the interior town were first alerted to the child's condition
shortly before midnight Monday by medical personnel at G.R. Baker Hospital.

Police said tests turned up evidence of cocaine in the little boy's
system, as well as that of his mother. Police said they haven't
determined how the cocaine was administered to the child.

The child is in foster care pending the outcome of the police
investigation. Police said the boy's parents are known to the
detachment.
