OWNERS OF DRUG HOUSES GET NOTICES TO REMEDIATE

PORT COQUITLAM - Three former marijuana growing operations in Port
Coquitlam will have notices placed against their land titles.

Council voted this week to file notices under Sec. 57 of the
Community Charter to protect prospective buyers and encourage the
owner to remediate the property.

The notice can be removed when the permit process is complete and
work has been done.

The city approved its first four Sec. 57 notices for former growing
operations and a methamphetamine lab at its Feb. 26 council meeting.

Two homes on the city's north side and one on the south are the
latest to receive notices.

If the property owners do not pay the fees, they can be included in
property taxes.

If the taxes are outstanding, the house can eventually be sold at a tax sale.

All four property owners were invited to Monday's meeting, but none showed up.
