VICTORIA TO HOST DIALOGUE ON SUBSTANCE ABUSE POLICY
A community dialogue on Greater Victoria's approach to drug policy
and substance abuse will be held May 26 at Central Baptist Church.
Dr. Benedikt Fischer, author of a $300,000 study looking at
supervised drug-use options, is the forum's keynote speaker. He is
director of the Centre for Addictions Research B.C. research unit on
illicit drug policy and public health and a UVic sociology professor.
The event, 1-5 p.m. at 883 Pandora Ave., is hosted by Voices of
Substance (VOS), a coalition of citizens who believe current
approaches to substance use and drug policy do not ensure the safety
or well-being of communities.
