LOTS OF TRIPS ACROSS BORDER TO U.S.
The five Lower Mainland men were charged with conspiring to export
marijuana to the U.S. and trafficking in marijuana in 2000 and 2001.
The year-long trial in New Westminster heard there were 13 trips to
the U.S. by semi-trailer, with each truckload hauling 135 to 275
kilograms, in total worth $10 million US.
Another million dollars worth was flown out, 70 kg at a time, on
fixed-wing planes.
Some $36 million worth was flown out on helicopters making two to
three trips a day over 16 weeks, each with 45 kg on board. There were
eight "walks across" the border, each with four people carrying
hockey bags containing 25 kg of marijuana. That total: $4 million.
