KELOWNA'S DRUG POLICE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
For the third summer in succession, police in Kelowna have conducted
a crackdown on street drug dealers with commendable success.
Seven people were arrested and warrants issued for 11 others who
remained at large.
The alleged traffickers rounded up in the sweep may be small fry, but
as RCMP Supt. Bill McKinnon notes, when they are removed from the
scene, secondary crimes of all kinds are reduced.
Enforcement of drug laws is not popular with "progressive" critics
who argue instead for decriminalization, or even legalization.
But as long as our cities' streets remain infested with parasites
peddling drugs, police are performing a valuable duty in keeping them
under control.
