PRO-POT PROTESTERS SUPPORT SUSPENDED STUDENT
WAWOTA, Sask.
A small group of pro-marijuana protesters rallied outside Wawota
Parkland School on Tuesday, adding fire to the controversy of a Grade
10 student's suspension for his "promotion of marijuana use."
Kieran King, 15, was kicked out of school for three days after
disobeying a lockdown order issued by the school. King had organized a
walkout Tuesday morning after school officials threatened to punish
anyone who left the building.
The controversy began when a student complained to school division
principal Susan Wilson about King's pronouncements about marijuana.
"In my opinion, cannabis is safer than they say. It is not worse than
alcohol or tobacco," King had said.
The flag-waving protesters included King, his brother, members of the
Saskatchewan Marijuana Party and a member of the NDP.
