POT, BUT NO PEOPLE, IN CRASHED PLANE
A mysterious plane crash in the Interior last week has sparked a
police probe into the ownership of a pound of pot found in the cockpit.
A search team responding to the emergency beacon that went off when
the Cessna 340A crashed found the marijuana in a sealed container,
but no people. The flight plan said the plane was heading to
Washington state from Alaska. It crashed "while attempting to land on
a homemade road cut into the bush," Clinton RCMP Cpl. Pete Bes said yesterday.
Suspicion has fallen on two men who appeared at a Kamloops hospital
an hour after the crash, claiming they were injured in a
motor-vehicle accident. One of the men, an American, is a pilot and
owns the airplane. No charges have yet been laid, Bes said.
