GROW-OPS DECREASE
SURREY - Indoor marijuana grow-ops are down by about 65 per cent in
Surrey, Mayor Dianne Watts claimed yesterday.
Watts based her assertion on a newly-released evaluation by the city's
Electrical Fire Safety Inspection Program that was established last
year in response to new provincial legislation which allows
municipalities to request customers' residential records from B.C.
Hydro.
"We've seen a decrease of about 65 per cent in grow-ops within the
city," said Watts. "We're very pleased by it. "Surrey is sending a
clear message that criminal activity and grow-ops are not welcome in
our city."
