ADDICTION CENTRES PLANNED FOR P.A.
PRINCE ALBERT (SNN) -- A 15-bed youth treatment facility will be
built in Prince Albert, along with two other new addiction centres,
the premier announced Wednesday.
The youth site, an adult acute social detox centre and a family
addictions site focusing on addicted parents will be built in the
city as soon as within another year.
The announcement comes two years after the Premier's Project Hope
initiative began, where a provincial effort was designed to reduce
substance abuse in Saskatchewan.
"Alcohol and drug addiction is nothing short of a tragedy," Premier
Lorne Calvert said.
With the three new sites, Calvert hopes to see Prince Albert become a
future hub of addictions services in the province.
Members of the Prince Albert Grand Council are charged with running
the facility.
