'DRUGS ARE EVERYWHERE'

Should all Kentucky counties and all Kentucky schools test their
student athletes for drugs?

Well, can't we agree that drugs are found more commonly in schools
today then they were 30 years ago?

And can't we also agree that probably most of those consuming
narcotics today are teens between the ages of 15 and 18 years old? On
any given day, I could have walked the hallways of my high school and
spied two people standing off to the side and trading something in
their hands while classes were changing.

Drugs are everywhere!

No matter where you go or what you do, drug-use is a major problem.

So, how do we stop it?

Well, Bullitt County began drug-testing its high school athletes just
a few short months ago. Every athlete will be tested before being
allowed to participate in an organized school sport.

Is this a good idea?

Is it hurting or making better of our high school students?

Personally, I fully support drug-testing. I think it's great that
students have adults that care enough for us to take the time to make
sure that we are living healthy and safe lives. Although no single
effort to curb drug-use is going to achieve 100 percent success, we
can all try our hardest to make a dent in drug use in the schools.
It's changing society for the worst.
