POLICE GROUP BACKS STIFFER DRUG STANCE
OTTAWA -- The 50,000-member Canadian Police Association yesterday
hailed the Harper government's promise of a new get-tough drug
strategy, expected to be unveiled this week. "That is a cornerstone,
because a lot of violence is related to drugs," said association
president Tony Cannavino, after a Parliament Hill ceremony to honour
fallen law-enforcement officers.
