DRUGS BELIEVED TO BE CONNECTED TO ALIX ROBBERY

Stealing money for drugs, is what Bashaw RCMP Sgt. Mike Coady
believes is behind a break-in that took place at the Alix Hotel last week.

Stealing money for drugs, is what Bashaw RCMP Sgt. Mike Coady
believes is behind a break-in that took place at the Alix Hotel last week.

According to police, unknown persons broke into the Alix
establishment at sometime between 4 p.m. Jan. 1, and 2 a.m. Jan. 2
and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.

Bashaw RCMP warns business owners to show extra vigilance, and report
any suspicious behavior to police.

Coady says crimes like the break-in in Alix are often times are
committed by drug abusers.

"While Alix has, I would suggest a similar drug problem to many
communities, we have indications that these break and enters are not
necessarily being committed by residents of Alix," said Coady.

Bashaw RCMP have established that suspects involved in an armed
robbery that took place at the Alix Hotel Dec.12 were drug abusers.
