CANNABIS POSSESSION SPURS ARREST

A medicinal marijuana patient was arrested Thursday afternoon on the
suspicion of possessing concentrated cannabis.

The Fairfield Police Department, Narcotic Investigation Unit and
Special Enforcement team served a search warrant at an apartment
located in the 2100 block of West Texas Street, and detectives said
they discovered that Fairfield resident Damien Love, 32, had an active
marijuana grow inside one of the bedrooms, which consisted of 24 plants.

Detectives also discovered four items concealed inside the residence
that resembled explosive devices. Detectives locked down the apartment
and immediately evacuated the neighboring residents.

A member of the California Department of Forestry Bomb Unit was able
to safely dismantle the four devices, police said. It was discovered
that they were not explosives and were actually devices used for the
purpose of converting marijuana into concentrated cannabis.

Love was arrested and booked into the Solano County Jail on suspicion
of possessing concentrated cannabis and prescription drugs. Police
said Love was not arrested for the marijuana plants because he was
able to provide the necessary medicinal marijuana documentation.
