ABSENCE OF DETERRENCE
Given the slap on the wrist handed an alleged associate of the Hells
Angels for cocaine trafficking, you have to wonder whether there is
any point in having drug enforcement in this province.
Chad James Barroby, 30, was sentenced last week in B.C. Supreme Court
to 18 months of house arrest and 100 hours of community service, after
pleading guilty to trafficking charges last June.
And his lawyer says he is now looking forward to working with horses
on his parents' farm.
Which is all very nice for him. But what kind of message does this
send to those who might be thinking of a career in B.C.'s illegal drug
industry? Go to it?
