SARATOGA-AREA POT HAUL VALUED AT $60 MILLION
Officials said detectives from the Santa Clara County Sheriff's
Office have finished processing the crime scene from a marijuana bust
that led to a fatal shooting Thursday of one of three suspects.
The marijuana garden, located in the hills above Saratoga, contained
approximately 20,000 plants with an estimated street value of around
$60 million, based upon a value of $3,000 per plant, the Santa Clara
County Sheriff's Office reported. Upon completion of the processing
of the crime scene, the garden will be eradicated by members from
Campaign Against Marijuana Planting, officials said.
One suspect in a marijuana-growing operation was fatally shot in a
confrontation with law enforcement and two other suspects fled
Thursday night in rugged, hot terrain outside of Saratoga, the Santa
Clara County Sheriff's office reported.
The two outstanding suspects are described as Hispanic males in their
early 20s. One of the subjects was described as wearing a blue shirt
and blue pants with a red cap. The second male was described as
wearing a tan tanktop.
The subjects are considered armed and dangerous, the Santa Clara
County Sheriff's office warned.
Anyone with information about the Saratoga-area marijuana
investigation is urged to contact the Santa Clara County Sheriff's
office at (408) 299-2311.
