TO FIGHT DRUGS, TREATMENT CENTRES NEED FUNDING

Re: City Begins Drug Fight, June 17.

As a recovering drug addict, with more than seven years clean, I can
tell you that drugs and crime go hand in hand.

However, if society is going to fight this problem, it must look at
several things including the funding of treatment centres that have
had their funding cut.

We also need to educate the public on where and how to get help for
substance abuse. If we sweep this problem under the rug and pretend
it will go away, things will get worse.

When I was using, I didn't know there was help. We must rally and
support 12-step programs and educate the public.

Let's be part of the solution and donate city facilities for meetings
and awareness programs.
