MARIJUANA PROFITS
Alan Ferguson's opinion column (June 3), headlined "Legalizing
marijuana would cripple the profits of the violent drug lords," is right on.
Other "partners in crime" who have vested interests in prohibition
are gung-ho, grow-buster inspectors and police-department budgets,
corporate liquor and pharmaceutical industries as well as potentially
privatized-for-profit prisons -- all of whom lobby government
legislators to perpetuate essentially racist-in-origin, Hitler-era laws.
