LET'S GET REAL
Insite has done nothing to curtail the spread of HIV/AIDS or to get
addicts into treatment. Instead, it sucks up all the dollars that
should go to real treatment. Fewer than five per cent of the Downtown
Eastside drug population uses Insite, and it costs $13,100 per user per year.
All the judge has done is to stall the development of actual
treatment programs that would make a positive impact on this
beleaguered community.
