A BETTER ANSWER
Federal Health Minister Tony Clement makes several good points in
explaining why Ottawa has decided to appeal last week's B.C. Supreme
Court ruling that Vancouver's safe-injection site must remain open
for at least another year.
Clement says every dollar spent on the site, where addicts inject
their own illegal drugs, diverts a dollar away from treatment that
could lead to a full recovery.
"I believe we can do better, and we must," he says.
We agree with him. The answer lies not in keeping people on drugs,
but in getting them off them.
