POLICE LOOKING INTO INFORMANT IN BOTCHED RAID
Saanich police are considering charges against an informant who
provided the tip behind a recent botched drug raid.
The public mischief charges would be a first levied on a Saanich
police informant.
Police have publicly apologized for a May 16 raid on a Regina Avenue
home the informant described as a clandestine drug lab. No illegal
drugs were found in the home.
Police are investigating why the informant provided incorrect
information in this case.
Robin Cushing, whose mother and sister were at home during the raid,
said the family is not pressing for charges. "The informant doesn't
really matter that much to us," Cushing said. "It was police who took
the information, corroborated it and used it."
