POT MONOPOLY BAD POLICY
Dear editor
Re: Pot of gold not what local grower wants, May 10.
I agree with Eric Nash of Island Harvest that the government's
preference for monopolistic pot distribution is a poor model to
follow. Are there no laws against monopolies in Canada? Or is this
somehow an acceptable exception?
There are too many strains of cannabis to list here. They have wildly
differing properties and uses. When someone has a headache, they don't
take something for athlete's foot. Why should someone have to settle
on a strain developed for a digestive disorder when they have MS? And
why should someone on the east coast need to get their medicine from a
company on the west coast from people they've never sat and talked
with face to face?
Our government has never been pro-active about intelligent responsible
cannabis use. Apparently, they have no plans to change this. But
eventually they'll catch up.
