TESTIFY AGAINST MANDATORY MINIMUMS IN CANADA
There is legislation pending in Canada (Bill C-26) which, if enacted,
would impose mandatory minimum sentences for drug crimes. The Bill
has passed second reading and been referred to Parliament's Standing
Committee on Justice and Human Rights (JUST). No hearings are scheduled yet.
If you have any suggestions or personal interest in testifying,
please contact Kirk Tousaw at ktousaw@johnconroy.com with your area
of expertise, name, title, organization and contact information. If
invited to testify, the policy of the committee is to reimburse
travel and expenses of witnesses. And Ottawa is a lovely city.
If you are interested in more specific information about the Bill,
Kirk has written about it on his blog at http://www.tousawlaw.ca/
