CRIME HYPE

If you want to feel safe in the city, be prudent about where you go
and when. That has always been the case.

And stop watching TV news, especially U.S. news. It is full of
fear-mongering stories.

I've lived in Vancouver for over 50 years and have never felt unsafe.
The statistics show we are no less safe now than ever before.

So stop buying into the U.S.-style, war-on-crime, war-on-drugs,
mandatory-sentencing mindset. They don't work. They are expensive,
and you're more at risk from bacon than from thugs, criminals or terrorists.
