GAZETTE DOESN'T GET IT: DRUGS ARE ILLEGAL
Don't the geniuses at The Gazette ever get tired of beating a dead
horse into the ground? When a nation's government deems it illegal to
purchase any type of drugs, that is what they mean - it is a crime.
And in this case, it is for the protection of its citizens, as drugs
bring naught but self-destruction to the individual and society as a
whole. This is so elementary a child can understand it.
The government has not failed in the drug war. It just does not have
enough agents/officers to police everywhere and arrest all those
breaking the law. Few get caught and many get away with murder. So
there is a perpetual market here, at any price, because individuals
will not become law-abiding and stop their use of drugs, either for
pleasure, thrills or as addicts.
Imagine what society would be like if everyone was a hard-core drug
addict.
The Gazette has a way of pushing the perks of liberty too far. With
liberty comes responsibility for one's actions, as existentialists
Jean-Paul Sartre and Albert Camus have pointed out. One cannot live in
a nation offering full liberties and break laws set by the government
with impunity.
