CITIZENS HAVE MORAL DUTY TO OPPOSE 'BAD' LAWS
Your recent, pro-law-enforcement, anti-marijuana editorial was a
knee-jerk reaction to a complex and controversial issue.
You advocate total obedience of all laws to preserve "democracy" over
"anarchy" in our society.
But your editorial fails to acknowledge that there are good laws, and
then there are bad laws.
If Martin Luther King Jr. had followed your simplistic advice, there
would have been no demonstrations against racist U.S. segregation
laws. Are we to believe your editorial and view Mr. King as a
criminal, not a hero?
Our elected officials sometimes make bad decisions that can result in
bad laws. Citizens have a moral responsibility to oppose such laws.
