PROTECTION PARAMOUNT

Re: "Rights are forfeited," Letter, April 28.

I am shocked at how many people are willing to give up their hard-won
right to privacy these days. Search warrants and probable cause are
not simply annoying bits of red tape, they are legal processes
designed to protect individual freedoms. We should not hand over power
to governments and affiliated organizations to wield authority
willy-nilly; we should protect ourselves from the dangers of unchecked
power.
