POT VS TOBACCO: SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS SCENE

Re: Cigarette smokers in Vancouver are now hiding in alleys, April 22

Yes, I read all the statistics about smoking and premature death, but
what I don't understand is that smoking weed (against the law) on the
steps of the Vancouver Art Gallery goes on in full view of the police
and nothing is done.

There is something wrong with this scene. When one can openly smoke
crack or weed on the street with the news cameras turned on, why
can't cigarette smokers smoke openly as well?

Governments make huge profits from tobacco and suffer huge losses
from illegal crops. If one wants to smoke marijuana recreationally,
why isn't it legalized, taxes collected, the grows-ops shut down, and
everyone treated equally?
