MEDICAL MARIJUANA ISSUE LIGHTS UP LETTERS PAGE
I'm well into my fourth month at The Triplicate, and so far it's no
contest in terms of what issue has generated the most letters to the
editor: the proposal before the county Board of Supervisors to more
severely restrict the amount of plants and processed marijuana that
can be possessed for medicinal purposes.
Almost all the local letters on the issue are being published. But it
turns out there's an impressive network nationally, even
internationally, of folks who support medical marijuana rights and
weigh in with letters whenever and wherever the issue arises.
We've received at least a dozen, mostly by e-mail, from waaay out of
town. We've printed a couple of them that spoke most directly to
what's specifically going on in Del Norte County. But many of them
were much more general, basically form letters on the topic.
I prefer to keep the debate mostly local, and on this subject there's
been no shortage of local opinions.
