PROHIBITION WON'T END DRUG ADDICTION
Re: "Drug abusers help support terrorism."
The only reason terrorists can make a dime selling heroin is because
of an insane drug policy. Without the subsidy provided by drug
prohibition, heroin would sell for the same price as tofu and other
agricultural products. The drug war has made drug trafficking the most
profitable endeavor on Earth
The idea of appealing to addicts to end their drug use is a ridiculous
notion that has failed for 94 straight years because addiction is not
a voluntary condition. Addicts are addicted.
America's drug crusade enables terrorists to fund themselves, and that
will never change until we repeal drug prohibition. After we end our
lunatic drug crusade, al-Qaida will be reduced to selling honey for
gun money.
It's worth remembering that Eliot Ness never put the booze barons out
of business. Repeal and a regulated market for alcohol did that in
short order. A drug crusade based on the same principles cannot
succeed any better than alcohol prohibition did. See "Did alcohol
prohibition reduce alcohol consumption and crime?" at
