MEDICAL MARIJUANA CONTROVERSY DISTRACTS FROM METH ISSUE

I do not smoke marijuana, but I am not against medical patients who
need it. In an April 5 Triplicate article, Randy Bancroft states that
Del Norte County doesn't want to be known as a good place to grow
marijuana, nor as a drug community.

One logically thinking can't understand the big deal of marijuana and
the growth, when meth is the more serious problem.

Marijuana has been known to make one's thoughts happier, able to eat
when they're not otherwise able to, help one sleep and help with pain,
etc. And marijuana has been approved for medical reasons, while meth
runs wild in the streets, leading to lying, drinking alcohol,
violence, thieving, recklessness, neglect, abandonment of children and
harming unborn children while pregnant. Paranoia, depression and
thoughts of suicide can also result, and an overdose of meth will
cause death, yet where has anyone ever heard of an overdose of marijuana?

Marijuana is distracting the people of the community's thoughts,
instead of being concerned with the more powerful and dangerous meth
problem we have in this state and county.

This meeting is over how much one can grow, but what's more important
is what can this county do to help people on meth.
