LET'S ALL TAKE METH
Editor: In The Times of April 6 under your heading "Legalize meth use,"
Redford Givens of San Francisco said in part; "Before we get excited by
Jordan Bateman's scare tactics about meth (The Times, April 2), we should
remember that there would be no outlaw meth labs in homes if it were legal"
. . . America's drug warriors have misled us again and again with the
fiction that law enforcement can solve drug problems created by the drug
policy itself."
With all due respect for your correspondent, according to that kind of
reasoning, the ideal solution for the "drug problem" would be for
society to take meth and all the other drugs that people use to escape
reality. These advocates are suggesting that drugs be fed
intraveniously into every child born in this world.
After all, if these drugs are so beneficial why not put them to their
maximum use?
