WEED SEEKERS GO TO WRONG HOUSE

A Langley couple got a scare when ski-masked bandits mistook them for
somebody else.

A couple living in rural Langley was shaken up when three armed men
ambushed them Monday night in a case of mistaken identity, police say.

The man and woman, tenants on the property in the 5300-block of 256th
Street, pulled into their driveway at about 11 p.m., said RCMP Cpl.
Peter Thiessen.

Three men wearing black ski masks and holding pistols jumped from the
bushes at the end of the driveway, causing the driver to step on the brakes.

One of the men demanded, "Where's the weed?" said Thiessen.

They left the scene without harming the victims, but they did take the
keys to the couple's vehicle.

When police arrived to investigate the strange attack, they searched
the property and found no trace of an illegal marijuana grow op or any
other illegal drugs.

Neither victim has any criminal history either, Thiessen said.

The owner of the property had been in contact with police previously
about concerns that a property across the street was possibly involved
in drug dealing, however.

"It would appear the suspects had targeted the wrong address,"
Thiessen said.

All three suspects are believed to be white and in their mid to late
20s. They were associated with a smaller green four-door car, possibly
an import.

A police investigation is ongoing, Thiessen said.
