GLAD THAT COMMUNITY IS TACKLING DRUG ISSUES

Editor, The News:

I would like to commend all those involved in making possible the
recent community events regarding crystal meth awareness and education.

As a recovering addict whose life had been torn apart because of this
devastating drug, I found it encouraging to see that our community is
no longer turning a blind eye but rather tackling this issue head on.

What was even more powerful was the evidence in those rooms that
people from all aspects of our community have joined the crusade in
reclaiming the fact that this drug is not welcome in our city.

Crystal meth ravages the mind, body and soul of its users, often
taking its victims with its first use.

Its often seductive lure is shortly forgotten by the torment it
imposes upon your very being. You no longer are the individual those
around you know and love. You are a lost soul chained to a dark
lifestyle of achieving your next high.

Thank you for reminding us that those caught up in the devastating
reality of crystal meth are worth fighting for.

We are someone's child or friend, and chances are we are someone you
know or have crossed paths with.

I am grateful to be a citizen of Abbotsford, as the resources were
provided that I needed to turn my life around.

Our city has the heart and people who are willing to embrace the
community of those battling addictions and strive towards solutions.
These recent events again were a positive indication of what is to come.

Keep up the great work as you never know how many lives you truly are
impacting for the better!
