STORY DOESN'T PASS THE SMELL TEST
There is some justification for the use of marijuana for medical
reasons, however, the Kalamazoo Gazette's article creates some real
suspicions. The example used mentions Martin Chilcutt's post-traumatic
stress disorder as a reason for using marijuana.
A man who was never in combat -- even though he witnessed a nuclear
detonation -- served during peacetime between the Korean and Vietnam
wars who now suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder sounds spicy
and interesting, but doesn't pass the smell test. Adding that he was
an intelligence officer had nothing to do with the story, but helps to
form an impression of his military service as justification for
legalizing marijuana's use because of what that nasty military put him
through.
The ingredients of a nuclear explosion, military service and
intelligence officer all make for good reading, but I have serious
doubts about this story. It sounds like the 1960s redux.
