BLIND TO DRUG VIOLENCE
Society needs much more from our criminal-justice system than B.C.
Supreme Court Justice Catherine Bruce can deliver.
She is obviously blind to the level of violence in a drug trade run
by organized crime.
It appears that, in the Surrey RCMP raid of Van Dung Cao's house,
police tried to gain entry to the front door and, receiving no
response, forced their way in.
Surely Justice Bruce knows that allowing a resident time to load
weapons, activate booby traps and destroy written evidence poses a
much greater threat to the police and surrounding community than a
forced entry.
Surely even Bruce must understand that the collective rights and
protection of society are more important than the rights of one
individual who is involved in an illegal activity with a violent and
dark side attached to it.
