MIXED VIEWS ON MS MAN'S IMPAIRED DRIVING SUSPENSION
Re: "Moody man with MS will fight suspension for smoking medical marijuana
in car," The NOW, Friday, Feb. 1.
No offense Mr. Salmassi, but I doubt an officer would be willing to
take you at your word that you promised you wouldn't be driving. You
were smoking up (the reason for doing so is irrelevant), therefore
were impaired and you were sitting in the driver's seat.
What else is the officer supposed to think? Having your friends with
you probably only made the situation worse, making it look more likely
that a bunch of friends decided to get high. Heed what you said:
"Drinking and driving, smoking and driving, it's the same thing," and
look at it from the officer's perspective. He is the law enforcement,
and not out to simply inconvenience you.
