SON STABS MOTHER TO DEATH OVER INDIAN HEMP
A middle-aged woman, Modinat Aderemi, has allegedly been stabbed to
death by his son, Jamiu Akinola, after a dose of marijuana.
The Police Commissioner in Oyo State, Mr Udom Ekpoudom, disclosed
this in Ibadan on Monday while parading suspected criminals before
the newsmen.
The suspects allegedly committed offences ranging from armed robbery,
burglary to ritualism.
Ekpoudom said Jamiu stabbed her mother with a dagger in the chest
because of her incessant advice to him to stop smoking Indian hemp.
According to the police boss, the command received a distress call
that a son was stabbing his mother at about 7. 30 p.m. on Saturday.
When policemen got to the scene of the crime, they found the woman in
a pool of blood with the dagger beside her, Ekpoudom said.
He explained that the woman died on her way to the University College
Hospital, Ibadan.
Ekpoudom explained further that the assailant was later arrested in a
hide-out while the corpse of his mother had been deposited at the
Adeoyo Hospital Morgue.
The police boss said the suspect would be charged to court as soon as
possible.
Also paraded was a 25 year-old Saheed Azeez of Orogun area of Ibadan
accused of being in possession of three human skulls.
Police said the accused suspect confessed to be working for one Dauda
Gbolagade of Agbaje area of the town, who promised to pay him N3,000
for each skull.
According to the police, upon arrest, Dauda also admitted that he
sent Saheed to get the skulls for him for money-making rituals.
