HOPE THE WORD GETS AROUND

Heroin has apparently killed five Wilmingtonians since December. The
police, despite their efforts, may not be able to do much about it.

Heroin may do it for them.

Users and prospective users will learn the terrible lesson that so
many have learned before them: This stuff can kill people. In fact,
it can kill you.

Yet heroin doesn't stop at killing the people who let it take over
their bodies and souls. It also kills other people around the world.

Most heroin is made from opium poppies grown in Afghanistan. Drug
profits fatten the Taliban, buy its weapons and its bombs.

Few local drug users are likely to know this, or maybe to care. But
Americans who buy heroin in America are financing the deaths of
Americans fighting for America in Afghanistan.

The sooner this plague is gone from Wilmington - gone from the world
- - the better.
