DO MORE FOR ADDICTS

Before we can speak of legalizing drugs, we must really think about
the state of rehabilitation and detox centres in B.C.

Unless you have a few bucks to spare (about $10,000 a month) on a
private rehab centre, chances are you'll have to wait for one.

Users of heroin and meth need to attend a month-long detox centre
before going on to rehab.

Unfortunately, it's nearly impossible to go immediately from detox to
rehab, and the wait can push an addict straight back to the drug.

We need joint detox/rehab centres to be built and greater funding
allocated to existing centres.

If we really want to help these people, we need to pressure the
province into doing more for them and for their families who just
want them back.
