'RAT ON A RAT' TO BEAT DRUG DEALERS IN WREXHAM

A NEW scheme to crack down on drug dealers in Wrexham's communities
has been launched.

The 'Rat on a Rat' campaign is aiming to encourage residents to hand
in the names of known dealers in the area who supply illegal drugs.

Officers will analyse and act on any information that can be
substantiated and cash rewards are being offered to anyone who
provides information that leads to an arrest, the recovery of drugs or
a prosecution.

The initiative is part of a joint scheme with North Wales Police,
Crimestoppers and Wrexham Community Safety partnership in a bid to
stopping dealers plaguing the area.

Supt Nick Snape said: "There are residents in our communities who have
valuable information which will help us to remove drug dealers from
our streets and I would urge the public to contact Crimestoppers by
giving us information which could prove valuable about the supply of
illegal drugs.

"Crimestoppers are waitingfor your call and we will analyse the
information by using a team of dedicated officers.

"Callers can be assured that all information that is received and
substantiated will be acted upon."

Callers to Crimestoppers will not be asked to provide details of their
name or address but will be given a reference number to claim a reward.

The caller can then call back after a few weeks to see if their
information has qualified for a reward which can be collected from a
named bank, building society or post office by using the reference
number.

Community Safety Sergeant John Williams said: "If you want to make
your community a better and safer place to live please contact
Crimestoppers.

"It may be the vital piece of information missing which will enable
the police to take action."

If you have any information that you may think is useful please call
Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
