IT'S TIME TO END THE WAR ON DRUGS

Re: City enters big league of crime (editorial, Jan. 26).

How many more gangs will form? How many more police officers will suck
up our tax dollars? How many innocent people will die before we
finally realize that as long as drugs are illegal and unregulated
there will always be an element in society that is willing to take
risks for profit?

The war on drugs will never be won. Drugs of all forms are ingrained
in our society.

Let's drop the puritanical attitude that makes only some drugs
socially acceptable and legalize all drugs, regulate them as we do
alcohol and tobacco and educate the population on the real dangers of
all drugs.
