EXPLAIN THIS TO ME

What is wrong with this picture? Prison guard Terry Leger contacts the
Ministry of Children and Families with his suspicion that an inmate's
children are being used to smuggle drugs into the Matsqui
institution.

Craig Jones of the John Howard Society of Canada claims that this
action violated privacy rights of the prisoner. Leger now faces a
disciplinary investigation.

Where is the common sense in all this?

Are these guards just to ignore what they see in order to protect the
prisoners' "rights"?

Is it now a "right" to have illegal drugs smuggled into
prison?

And just who is protecting the children caught in this
situation?
