Carroll man slain in what police say was drug transaction

A Carroll County man was fatally shot last night in East Baltimore where he
and a companion had gone to buy narcotics, police said.

Police said the men were in a car about 11: 30 p.m. in the 1600 block of
Carswell St. and were purchasing drugs when one of them was shot by a
gunman who was in the back seat.

Police said the shooting victim, whose name was withheld pending
notification of his family, died at the scene. The names of his companion,
who was not injured, was not released because he is a witness.
