INJECT NEAR POLICE PLAN
SUPERVISED injecting rooms in Melbourne could be put next to police
stations under a plan being considered by Premier Steve Bracks.
Mr Bracks said he was impressed by a injecting zoom near a police
station in Zurich during his recent trip to Switzerland.
"I believe it provided an extra level of supervision that helped deter
those looking to push drugs or profiteer," Mr Bracks said in a report
to parliament.
He said police Chief Commissioner Neil Comrie and Dr David Penington,
the head of the state government's drug advisory committee were
examining the proposal.
