POLICE: REID'S SON ADMITS TO HEROIN USE

PLYMOUTH - The legal troubles facing the two eldest sons of
Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid seemed to mount Thursday.

It has been learned that, in the wake of a serious accident Tuesday,
Garrett Reid, 23, reportedly waived his right to remain silent and
admitted to police that he used heroin the day he allegedly ran a red
light and collided with another vehicle at Germantown Pike and Arch Road.

The operator of the second vehicle, a 55-year-old Mount Carmel woman,
was cut out of her car by emergency personnel and flown to the
Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. An officer responding to
the scene approached Reid's vehicle, a Jeep Liberty, and reportedly
observed an ammunition container in the rear compartment and the butt
of a handgun under the driver's seat.

Additionally, police are reporting that they recovered a knife along
with other drug paraphernalia that included the following: Two
uncapped used hypodermic syringes, a triple beam scale, numerous
cotton balls, a roll of adhesive tape, alcohol prep swabs and scissors.

Twenty-two prescription pills - including three Adderall, which is
commonly used to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
(ADHD) - were also recovered, reports added.

According to reports, Reid was clocked in neighboring East Norriton
Township traveling at a rate of 19 miles per hour over the posted 35
mph speed limit just prior to the accident.

Reid reportedly then ran a red light at the intersection of
Germantown Pike and Arch Road, colliding with the Ford Taurus
operated by the woman who has since been released from the hospital
after being treated for unspecified injuries.

While Reid was reportedly not injured in the crash, he reportedly
"did not follow simple directions" and "could not understand" what he
was being told.

He was taken to Mercy Suburban Hospital where he gave a blood sample,
according to police. Police are awaiting results of lab tests and
have not charged Reid.

In a seemingly unrelated incident Tuesday morning, Reid's 21-year-old
brother, Britt, allegedly pulled out a "platinum-colored" handgun and
pointed it another driver during a traffic dispute on Front Street in
West Conshohocken.

That evening, West Conshohocken police obtained a search warrant to
look for guns at Andy and Tammy Reid's Villanova home and the
couple's GMC Denali that Britt Reid was driving Tuesday.

During the house search, sources say police found a handgun
resembling the weapon described by the West Conshohocken motorist.

While formal charges have yet to be filed against either of Reid's
sons, Montgomery County First Assistant District Attorney Risa Vetri
Ferman said the D.A.'s office is following the two investigations.

She said the D.A.'s office would await results of the Plymouth and
West Conshohocken police investigations before taking any action.
