TRAGEDIES WITH INNOCENT VICTIMS WILL CONTINUE
Most of the letters I've seen on the Ismael Mena killing miss the point.
The problem is far deeper than the actions of one man (Officer Joseph Bini).
As long as we have "no-knock searches" along with a "make my day" law, this
scenario is bound to repeat itself. People make mistakes. If police break
into a house on a no-knock warrant, the resident - guilty or not - is
allowed under "make my day" to come out firing. The police will react in kind.
As long as drug warriors and irresponsible legislators like Ken
"Gunslinger" Chlouber indulge their Wild West fantasies, these tragedies
will continue.
