A LESSON WE SHOULD HAVE LEARNED DURING PROHIBITION

David Klinger makes an excellent point concerning the failed war on drugs.
As quickly as we incarcerate those who would make a profit selling drugs,
others step up to take their place - a lesson we should have learned during
Prohibition. As long as there is demand, there will be supply. Isn't it
ironic that these so-called controlled substances are in truth out of
control?

Those who wish to pursue current policy are like the person who, upon
hearing the car engine barely turn over on a January morning, turns the key
harder. Turning the key harder is not going to make the engine start, and
spending more money arresting drug traffickers and users is not going to
solve the problem.

I think the ex-cop from Los Angeles is right: It's time to do something
different.
