OFFICERS RECEIVE NATIONAL AWARD

Law enforcement officers from San Joaquin County were honored in
Washington last week for their role in uncovering dozens of pot
houses in the region in a major operation last year.

Stockton police Detective Matt Garlick and San Joaquin County
sheriff's Deputy Linda Jimenez and officers from the Elk Grove Police
Department and Drug Enforcement Agency traveled to the capital to
receive the 2007 National Marijuana Eradication Initiative Award from
the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.

They were there to receive the award on behalf of a 20-person
multiagency team that last year uncovered 54 pot houses, including 20
in Stockton and six in Lathrop, according to the Sheriff's Office and
the Stockton Police Department.
