DETOX CENTRE ON CRAIGMYLE'S LIST
City Coun. Ron Craigmyle is helping people put together a plan for a
detox facility in Quesnel.
"This facility will help the city's homeless," he said.
An idea of a 30-bed place for people getting off drugs or booze, is
going through the hoops as several city stakeholder groups -- from
the RCMP to government agencies -- continue to look into finding
funding and a location.
"There's huge interest to see this happen," Craigmyle added.
It's best not to move people in need of help out of their home town,
Craigmyle explained when contemplating the fact there are detox
facilities in Prince George.
"The best means of treatment is in your own community," he said.
With few resources to get people the right treatment, the councillor
said those who work to help addicts often use their own cars getting
people to Prince George.
